Sarah and Phil wanted a variety of locations for their engagement session, so we did a little tour of some of our favorite parts of Chico for their pics! We started off the day at their house to get some adorable pics with their dogs. Then we headed downtown to hit up the El Rey Theatre, the train tracks, and Schubert’s Ice Cream Parlor. After that we stopped by an orchard that had the most gorgeous almond blossoms! We brought along an old wood ladder that we picked up from an antique store and Sarah and Phil were so cute posing with it!

I know we’ve said it a million times, but it’s always still surprising when we go to a place like Orland (where we’ve been a million times) and look at it from the perspective of a photography session for the first time. Who knew Orland had so many amazing backdrops for pics!? We started off the day at Jenna and Luke’s house where Jenna was getting ready. While we were on our way there we saw a long line of parked rail cars that have been all over that area forever, and we decided that it would look so amazing to have Jenna and her girls up on those cars! Jenna and Luke’s ceremony took place a the Catholic church in central Orland, and it had the most gorgeous lighting for their ceremony. Then everyone hopped in a limo and we drove over to another part of town where we discovered a whole bunch of great spots in a couple of completely random alleys! Their reception took place at the Orland Veterans’ Hall which was a really cool old building from the 50’s.

Ceremony: St. Dominic’s Catholic Church
Reception Venue: Orland Memorial Hall

Dusty has known Julie and her family since he was in elementary school, so getting to shoot Julie and Nick’s wedding was another one of those “moments he never imagined when he was 10!” Julie and Nick met in Chico and live there as well, so Bidwell Park was the perfect setting for their engagement session. We started at one mile and then walked up along the park and the trails to see what we could find. The light was so gorgeous that the scenes for their session looked like they were straight out of a magazine!

Therese and Ken live out on the west side of Red Bluff, which is right in the middle of all the beautiful rolling hills at the top of the valley. They had tons of fun things to use on their property, including some really great old trucks. They also had the most gorgeous oak tree next to a pond! Therese totally gets twitterpated every time she’s near Ken so we just set them wherever we found a fun spot and started snapping away!
